Hi, my name is Tim Kennedy. A couple of friends of mine and I talked about taking a diving course back in 1995. We liked to go camping, boating and fishing so why not incorporate diving with these other recreational activities. Little did I know that this would start my diving career. In April 1995 we entered into a PADI Open Water course here at Aqua Divers. I enjoyed diving so much, that I continued my diving education. Courses such as Navigation, Night diving, Deep diving, Altitude diving, and Search and Recovery gave me the experience to gain the Advanced Diver certification level by September 1996. I continued on with the Rescue Diver course which enabled me to identify stressors in myself and my dive buddy along with other divers I might be diving with. The Rescue Diver course made me a much more comfortable diver with myself and my surroundings. I accomplished this by September 1999. I found out that I enjoyed being around people that were interested in learning how to dive. Therefore; the next logical step was to become a PADI Divemaster, which I accomplished by April 2000. I began working with students in the Open Water course programs with Steve and enjoyed being in the water every chance I got. In 2001; Steve & Joyce decided to move from the PADI training agency to SSI. I continued on with my diving education through the SSI Stress & Rescue course, the React Right CPR/First Aid course, and the DAN Oxygen First Aid course. I moved along with them into SSI and became a Dive Control Specialist in November 2001. I enjoyed the SSI philosophy thoroughly. After many many dives; I decided to enter into the Instructor training course and I became a SSI Open Water Instructor in June 2006. My diving knowledge has not stopped there. I have taken the required CPR/First Aid courses offered through SSI of which I am expected to keep current. And I became very interested in underwater photography. I started out with a small Sea & Sea film camera and have since progressed into the Sea & Sea Digital camera. I have also become a Nitrox certified diver in order to be a safer diver on repetitive dive trips. I have done a considerable amount of diving in Monterey with Open Water students and for pleasure. I have been on quite a few of the Channel Islands liveaboard boat trips that Steve & Joyce put on here through the shop. I have also done a lot of diving in Lake Tahoe with students and for pleasure with Aqua Divers Aquarius dive club. I have done a small amount of diving in Donner Lake. As far as warm water destinations I have been to the Philippines and Curacao so far and am ready to go again – it’s great!! |
