Hello, my name is Steven Ripley, I go by Steve. I started diving in 1974 but living in northern central Nevada diving was not something I was able to often. An abandon barite mine and a gravel pit was my dive sights. I did fall in love even with these conditions. As I progressed through Advanced, Rescue and Dive Master training; I became a PADI instructor in 1994. I certified over 300 Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Dive Master Students through PADI. In May of 2001 I crossed over and became an Instructor through SSI (Scuba Schools International). The cross over gave me a title of Dive Control Specialist Instructor. This combines the dive leader status of, OWI/AOWI/DCSI. In June 2005 I became a Scuba Ranger Instructor for our Scuba Ranger program. As of December 2005, I achieved the rating of Master Instructor.
My specialty certifications I am able to teach are; Boat, Deep, Navigation, Night/Limited Visibility, Equipment, Dry suit, Underwater Photography, Search & Recovery, Enriched Air Nitro and Stress & Rescue. I have trained over 150 students with various ratings from Open Water through Dive Control Specialist from 2001-2006.
Being an Instructor and store owner, my diving consists of instructional open water dives with my students in Monterey, Ca, Donner Lake, Lake Tahoe and other fresh water locations. I also dive in the same locations with our dive club for pleasure as well as the Channel Islands, off the coast of Southern California. For warm water diving; my travels have been to Honduras 5 different times, Belize once, Cozumel three times, Curacao once, Fiji three times, and the Philippines twice.
My personal hobby is photography. I hope you enjoy the photo gallery that we have assembled for you to view. HAPPY DIVING
