AQUARIUS DIVE CLUB NEWSLETTER

September 2009

NEWS FROM THE SEPTEMBER MEETING:

We had our annual Donner Lake Crawdad Dive on August 29 & 30.  We camped at Goose Meadows near Truckee.   We had a small turnout from previous years  due to members having to work and the economy.  But, those people that did attend had a good day of diving and diving adventures.   There were some gear rearranging that really became quite hilarious, but we got the missing gear parts covered and everyone that wanted to dive – got to dive.  Great tasting food for the crawdad dinner and the crawdad breakfast.

Steven & I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to those that helped create this weekend.  There is a lot of work that goes into it before, during and after the weekend.  Due to Steven having his truck accident on August 16th, it left us without a vehicle to a pull the big red trailer up to Donner like we usually do.

Thank you to Keith  Emmerton  for coming down to our shop with his pickup  and trailer and hauling up the tables, chairs, cook pots, stove, burners, two large boxes of utensils and cooking supplies, our two boxes of dive gear, and small items. Thank you for Keith bringing up the drinking water.  And for bringing the crawdad cage to keep those little guys alive in the lake while everyone was diving for them during the day.

Thank you to Gil Sandler for pulling our boat up to Donner and for taking our air tanks.  And thank you to Al Griego for pulling Gil’s boat up to Donner so Gil could do that for us.

Thank you to Carl Puchalski, Donna Puchalski, Kristina Puchalski, Keith Emmerton, Jeannie Emmerton, Gil Sandler, Al Griego for helping Joyce prepare the vegetables for both dinner and breakfast, for washing and cutting vegetables.  Thank you to my two dish washers Carl Puchalski and Jeannie Emmerton. I know there were a lot of dishes and they were very sticky!!  I appreciated that.

On Sunday, a few of us went back to Donner Lake to do a lake clean up dive.  We didn’t find anything interesting this year.  Beer bottles and cans was about it.
