|  | AQUA DIVERS AQUARIUS DIVE CLUB NEWSLETTER | July 2009 | | | | NEWS FROM THE JULY MEETING: | | | July 12 – is Annual Customer Appreciation Day – at the pool, 1530 Bridge Street. It starts at 2:00pm, bring your swimming suit and jump in the pool. Aqua Divers will supply the hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, ice, drinking cups, plates, silverware. Please bring your beverage and a small side dish for the potluck. This is a family day; so bring the kids and your spouse. It is that time of year again for club dues. Stop by the shop and pay for them, and pick up your t-shirt or upgrade to a sweatshirt. | | | | DIVE EVENTS: | | | The crawdad dive is scheduled for August 29 & 30. The camping will be done at Goose Meadows. If you are interested in going please get your reservations ASAP. Call 888-448-1474 or go on-line at RECREATION.GOV OR RESERVEAMERICA.COM. A list will be sent around at the next meeting for anyone going to the Crawdad dive to sign up for particular food items such as bread, desserts, salads, relish tray. Otherwise; Aqua Divers will furnish the potatoes, carrots, celery, bell peppers, onions, and spices for the Cajun Crawdad boil dinner on Saturday night. And the breakfast on Sunday morning will be furnished; made from leftover vegetables and scrambled with 5 dozen eggs and 5 pounds of cheese. He wasn’t present, but he has been presented with the following – Computer – Navigation – Boat – Enriched Air Nitrox | | | CONTINTUED EDUCATION: JULY 14 – 6:30PM | | | We have an orientation evening every second Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm at the shop for anyone interested in taking a continued educational course. Come sign up that night, pick up your book package, and set a date on the calendar. | | | | MONTHLY PRESENTATION: | | | The July presentation was how to prepare for a night dive. The group came up with the following ideas: Have a primary, secondary and I.D. lights Check batteries or put fresh ones in before night dive Personal preference to turn the backlight on in your computer Make a dive plan Your compass is a valuable tool Go over hand signals with buddy Use the flashlight in the proper way to signal buddy Check air pressure before diving Always turn around your dive with sufficient air supply | | | | NEXT MEETING: | | | DATE: AUGUST 12, 2009 TIME: 6:00PM – 7:00PM – POTLUCK DINNER 7:00PM - 7:30PM – BUSINESS MEETING 7:30PM – 8:00PM – PRESENTATION WHERE: AQUA DIVERS POOL – 1530 BRIDGE STREET Bring your own meat for the barbeque and a side dish to share, and a beverage.
