AQUARIUS DIVE CLUB NEWSLETTER

MARCH 2008

NEWS FROM THE MARCH MEETING:

There were no dives in January or February to report on.  Evon asked for volunteers for the MS walk, so if you are interested in helping out in anyway; contact her to get more information on what positions she needs to have filled for the Yuba City walk which is May 3. We set up the dive calendar at the February meeting and we asked if everyone received the newsletter with the dive date calendar in it.  Everyone except Gil said they received it, so read your e-mails Gil.  But, there were no changes on the calendar.  Everyone was fine with the dates so far.

We had a really great meeting and talked over a lot of information and it is outlined as follows.

EASTER EGG HUNT

The next dive is in the pool.  It is the annual underwater Easter egg hunt.  It will be on March 16, at 2:00PM, at the pool.  Bring your dive gear and a container to gather eggs in.   Aqua Divers supplies the air, the eggs, the aluminum foil and the prizes.  It will be a potluck with the barbeque as usual.  I have put in for good weather, so if all goes well the water will be 85 as normal.

NEXT DIVE WEEKEND

The next dive weekend is to Fort Bragg and we will be camping at Albion this time.  There has been 6 full hook up sites reserved for Aqua Divers.  I will let them go on April 4th.   If you are interested in taking one of those please call over there at 707-937-0606, their office hours are 8:00am to 3:00pm.  If you want a tent site call over there as well and tell them what you need.

NEW ABALONE REGULATION

We also talked about the latest regulation for Abalone divers.  When you purchase your Abalone report card; they will issue you tags for each Abalone you catch. You are to put a tag through one of the holes in the shell to designate your catch.  You still have to fill in the report card as has been done before with the days date and county where you got the Abalone from.  It is still 3 in possession per day.  As soon as you exit the water, you are supposed to mark your Abalone with a tag and fill in the report card.

WASHINGTON DIVING

We talked about our trip to Washington sometime this summer.  We want to dive in the Edmonds Underwater park and check that out.  Sarah, Leroy & Kathy will be going up there over the Easter break and check things out for us and bring back the information we need.  We want them to find out about motels, camping RV sites, tides, times the park is open, where the nearest dive shop is to get fills, etc.  So we will discuss that at the April meeting and see which date to choose.

WARM WATER TRIP DATES

Aqua Divers warm water destination this year is the Philippines.  We will be doing several presentations on that trip at the shop.  We have already had one on February 16, and the next one will be March 15.  It will start at 5:00PM at the shop and there will be munchies and soda served.  We will have a short slide show for anyone interested in going on this trip.  And if you aren’t able to go with us this year, come watch the slide show anyway. The dates for the trip are October 24 – November 2, 2008.
